After a lot of deliberation, I’ve decided to take a break from YouTube for a month, to focus on making my Slap Bass Course! To be honest, it’s not really a choice – it’s out of necessity!
I’ve worked my ass off on the channel since January and am so happy with the way things are moving. However It’s clear I’m never going to get my slap bass course complete the way things are, and it’s really starting to affect both Jan and I negatively in a BIG WAY! The weeks have become a relentless wheel that I can’t get off! I’m falling behind with almost everything – including the members-only content – and the more this happens, the worse it gets. Quite frankly it ‘s all starting to feel impossible and completely overwhelming!
I’ve done my research and taking a break from the weekly content shouldn’t have a detrimental effect on the channel, but it WILL allow me to do my “hyper focus” thing on the slap course! It’s the way I work best – long uninterrupted stints at things. Time to turn on the ADHD superpower lol!
I’ll stay in touch on here, and will get the members-only stuff going again this week!
I’m really excited to let the creative juices flow and make the course I never believed I could! Don’t let me off the hook – keep checking in here to see if I’m staying on track… 🙂 See you all in a month – this is going to be EPIC!!
Sure growth is important, be it person or spiritual, but spending more time focusing on the thing’s we’re good at, and less on the thing’s we’re not so good at is CURICAL! Recognise your strengths, then learn to love, nurture and build on them! If you don’t believe you have any (I’ve been guilty) – ask a friend, relative, partner, co-worker etc. what they see are your best qualities. We ALL have our own unique gifts even if we don’t always see them. Scott.
In this live Stanley Clarke bass workshop, I’ll share 5 ways he shaped MY bass playing forever! At the age of 15 I discovered “Time Exposure” then subsequently “Hideaway” – two albums that to this day fill me with joy and excitement every time I listen to them! It blows my mind just how much these two albums influenced the way I still play today. Join me as I pick out the top 5 ways Stanley and these albums influenced and shaped me as an artist. Scott.
This week’s video is all about slap bass playing’s best kept secret – the LEFT HAND SLAP TECHNIQUE. This 2 minute video reveals you DON’T NEED A SUPER-FAST THUMB – rather it’s the “secret” Left Hand Slap Bass Technique creating the illusion!
In just TWO MINUTES you’re going to learn how this powerful technique will supercharge your slap bass playing,
Let me know in the comments how you get on with your left-hand slap and be sure to get the free PDF worksheet.
Just letting you know everything has continued to improve beyond belief, and to say another huge thank you to everyone who’s helped!! Whether it was a message, a comment, an email, call or a donation – it’s all worked together to make an almost miraculous change!
I feel terrible because I simply can’t get through the hundreds of messages and comments fast enough – please know how much I value them all and it’s not for want of trying if you haven’t received a reply yet.
In fact, please share this post in the various pages, groups etc where people posted about my plight – I need to let everyone know how much difference they’ve made and how much it means to JinJan and I!
You’ve bought us time… …time to see things through and stay on track, time to find ways to supplement our income until the main projects take off and time to make our work the best it can be. Hopefully this is work that will help and inspire others for many years to come.
You’ve bought us space… …space to breath, space to work at a realistic and more efficient pace and time to regroup and rest occasionally.
You’ve turned my lack of self-worth around… …maybe above all, you’ve turned my lack of self-worth into self-love! I still struggle to even say that phrase, but I’ve learned very quickly it’s a must. I’ve always struggled to accept compliments, but when it happens on a scale like this, I simply can’t ignore it!
In fact it would be an insult to all those who shared their own stories and told me how my work had touched them in one way or another. It’s been like a crash course in learning to love yourself lol!
I’ll always remember and draw on what’s happened these past three days, especially when the road gets bumpy in the future. I believe this has been life changing for me in so many ways.
There’s too much to say here but if you have time, Janet and I are doing a live stream this afternoon (4PM UK time) where I’ll be doing my best to talk about the past three days and how profound it’s all been. Please join us if you can – we’ll be singing a song or two as well.
Again please share this or at least help let me get the word out to everyone how much I appreciate them and what they’ve done.
Today’s video has just gone live on YouTube and I think you’re going to enjoy it! It’s all about Bass Swells, or Bass Volume Swells – something you might not have even thought of trying previously?!
Bass guitar swells can be an amazing tool, adding texture and colour to your playing! Whether it’s haunting legato melodies or majestic sounding harmonic chords, using swells is super effective and a LOT of fun!
Let me know in the comments if it’s a technique you already use, or if it’s completely new to you. Maybe you have your own methods of doing swells already?
*** Look out for the bonus tip on strengthening your fretting hand! ***
It took THREE DAYS to make a 20 minute video last week which, simply put, is TOO LONG!! This week I’m going all posh and employing this amazing Glide Gear TMP100 Teleprompter to help drastically speed things up!
